9-11-02 Show # 65

The “P.R.K.” show

This evening’s show, perhaps the most emotionally challenging show that I
have ever had to host, is difficult to put into words, however, once the words do start,
they never seem to end.
Simply … … …
The events of 9-11-01 forever changed our lives. That much is clear.
What is not quite as clear is the process of recovery from that day.
There is no textbook for this tragedy.
I’m not even sure that I want to call this day and “anniversary”, per se.
However, I might.
Why?
Because if there is one thing that we should be celebrating today,
it is the lives of those we lost in due to the events of 9-11-01.
Personally, I lost, quite possibly, the best friend that I ever had.
Peter Rodney Kellerman.
God has yet to create any other better than Peter, it’s just that simple.
Since this date last year, Mainely Dead has been dedicated in his name.
Beyond that, it has become my personal goal to make sure that he will never be forgotten.
So, I write of him here. I speak his name. And, I just want you to know that you lost Peter, too.
He was one of us.
He was the guy that you turned to first if you were new to the group.
He welcomed you, unconditionally.
In some innate way, he just knew how to be a friend. It came naturally.
His physical presence might have been taken away last year, but, his energy is stronger than ever.
Look around you. In everything good and graceful that you see, you will also see Peter.
In the morning sun and evening sky; in the grandeur that is the ocean’s horizon; in a child’s innocent smile;
in your spouse’s eyes as they lay sleeping; in the first star that comes out at night;
in the spot of the song that soothes you; in the flavor that is
your most favorite dessert; in your friends; in your pets; in your family; and most importantly,
in the space that is truly you … … … your most natural state of being.
That is where you shall find my friend Peter Kellerman.
September 11th, by no means, took him away.
It has only brought him closer.
Like “two souls in communion”.
I just wish I could tell him that.
