Show # 7
The "He’s Gone” Show.
Six years ago,
on August 9th, 1995, Jerry Garcia died.
Jerry had his
faults, obviously. However, what may have turned out to be sadly tragic ending
could in no way discount what was truly a remarkable life.
To say that
Jerry Garcia inspired the masses is putting it mildly. Yes, inspiration moved
us brightly, but it moved us beyond that, am I right? It’s not something that
has ever been able to be put into words. It’s a shared and silently understood
look amongst like-minded, and generously kind people. It’s a feeling. You know
… that feeling. It was “strangers stopping strangers, just to shake
their hands”.
Whatever “it”
was, it continues to move us today.
Jerry Garcia,
our muse, and that feeling that we have each nurtured ever since the
first moment when we all fell upon the music of The Grateful Dead, will not
soon be forgotten.
Thankfully.
Gratefully.
